Long Description

Some tables are just furniture. The Mawo Table is something else.

Its base is a raw recycled wood stump — not a turned trunk, not a shaped form made to look like a trunk. A trunk. With its deep cracks running through the wood from top to bottom, its irregular crevices, its aged wood texture revealing the successive layers of time. Each Mawo has a base different from all others because each trunk is different. No two Mawo Tables in the world are identical. This is a certainty, not a marketing argument.

The veined natural white marble top is placed on this stump with surgical precision. Ultra-thin, slightly cantilevered, it floats above the wood with a lightness that radically contrasts with the massiveness of the trunk. Its grey and pink veins snake through the white stone — each top unique as well, each vein arranged differently. A discreet connecting iron ensures structural stability without disturbing the visual purity of the composition.

This contrast — the cold, precise, and polished surface of the marble above the organic and cracked brutality of the trunk — is the very essence of wabi-sabi aesthetics at its most radical.
