Long description

The Kadrie Coffee Table stems from a simple idea and demanding execution. The idea: the checkerboard. The execution: reproducing it by alternating recycled wood tiles and black marble tiles over the entire surface of a square coffee table. The result is a piece that immediately catches the eye and never lets go.

Look closely at the recycled wood — the detail photo shows exactly what makes it irreplaceable. Wide grains, natural cracks, variations in shade between warm brown and deep brown, marks of time and use that give each tile its own character. No two recycled wood tiles are exactly alike — this is precisely what creates the visual richness of the checkerboard. The matte black marble tiles, meanwhile, provide geometric rigor and the depth of black that structures the whole.

This dialogue between living, imperfect, warm wood — and cold, precise, dark marble — is the essence of the Kadrie. Two noble materials, opposite each other, united in a graphic pattern that has crossed decades without aging. From Parisian tiling to sixties checkerboards, the checkerboard is an immediately recognizable and always relevant visual code.
